Greetings, Reader!
I sat down with Amy Hartshorn of the Green Living Now Podcast this week for a conversation that will have you rethinking everything you've been told about pain.
Will you give it a listen and share with someone you know who is in pain?
I'm on a mission to radically transform the way we treat pain, and that starts will helping people understand that the issues actually aren't in the tissues.
We've been conditioned to think that pain happens when we have something wrong with the structure of our bodies. When something hurts, we look to an X-ray or MRI to find the broken or damaged part, as if we are machines that can be repaired.
But humans aren't machines. We don't just execute functions, we interpret, make inferences, dream, worry, and respond to our environments in ways that are not predetermined.
Yes, we can get injured, but treating an injury is not the same thing as treating pain.
Listen to the podcast to hear why!
And if you are struggling with pain, particularly if your scans don't match your lived experience, your doctors don't know how to help you (and maybe don't even believe you), and you aren't getting better, even though you are doing all the "right" things, I'd love to have a conversation.
Your body might not need a mechanic.
You can actually teach your nervous system to stop producing pain, even if you still have busted up body parts, and I can show you how.
In love and solidarity,

PS: It is not lost on me that I wrote a whole newsletter about AI last week, and the cover graphics for this episode look AI generated. Just want to name it because I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed:)
PPS: I had my first class of the semester this week at CCV, and it went really well. Yes, I ranted about the robots (aka AI), the importance of thinking for yourself, and why not knowing the answer is actually the key to learning, but I think they actually heard me. Time will tell, but I'm hopeful, and feeling much less resistance than I was last week. Thanks to everyone who responded in solidarity, and for the pep talks. It really helped!
