My Neurosomatic Pain Program Starts Tomorrow. Want to join?

Greetings, Reader!

I am emailing a bit early this week because my Neurosomatic Pain Program starts tomorrow, and I wanted to send one last invitation to join us.

One of the most common questions I hear is this:

“How can I still hurt when I'm doing everything "right," my doctors say nothing is ‘wrong’, or when my pain doesn't match the results of my imaging?”

Here’s what most people don't know:

Pain isn’t a direct measure of tissue damage.

In fact, there isn't a good correlation between X-ray and MRI results and pain patterns at all. Some people have big, scary-looking findings on their imaging, but they don't have any pain. Other people have a lot of pain, but it can't really be explained by their scans.

That is because pain is an output of the nervous system, and you can't see it on imaging.

Diagnostic imaging often creates a catch-22.

If you do have structural changes in your body, it might feel like you are doomed to be in pain forever (spoiler alert: you aren't, and you can overcome pain even if the structure doesn't change. My program will show you how.).

On the other hand, if your images don't show significant structural damage, your doctors might think you are exaggerating or inventing your symptoms, and that simply isn't true.

Your pain is real regardless of what your imaging shows, but it doesn't have to be permanent.

When the nervous system has been under threat, such as injury, illness, stress, trauma, or repeated pain, it can learn to protect by becoming extra sensitive.

That means:

  • Pain can persist long after tissues heal
  • Sensations can feel more intense or alarming than what you'd expect based on your scans
  • The body can react as if danger is everywhere

This isn’t your body betraying you; It’s your nervous system doing its job, but just a little too well.

The beautiful part?

The nervous system is adaptable. It learned to interpret the world through the lens of pain, and it can unlearn patterns that no longer serve you.

That’s the foundation of my integrative approach to healing from chronic pain.

We don’t chase symptoms.

We don’t override your body.

We don't keep giving you orthopedic solutions for a nervous system problem.

We help your nervous system feel safe again so it stops generating pain.

Your nervous system can heal and become less sensitive when you change the inputs and replace danger cues with evidence of safety.

You are not broken, you're just stuck in a survival loop. But there is a way out, and I'd love to guide you through it so you can get back to living your life without being ruled by pain.

We begin on Thursday. Do you want to join us?

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm happy to correspond by email, or schedule a meeting to help you get all your questions answered so you make an embodied and aligned choice.

Payment plans and scholarships are available. If you want to join, let me know what you need in order to make it feasible for you.

In love and solidarity,

Rachel

Letters for resilience and courage

Greetings, Reader! Last week, I shared Jill’s story about being stuck in survival mode. Since then, so many of you have reached out saying, "That’s exactly where I am. I’m doing the work, but my body won't let go." If you feel like you’re doing all the "right" things, meditating, breathing, trying to find the magic combination of supplements, but your system is still stuck in protection mode, your nervous system might need a jumpstart. All of those things can be beneficial, but your nervous...

Letters for resilience and courage

Greetings, Reader! I met a new client this week (who we'll call Jill) who has been living under the shadow of chronic pain and fatigue for years. She said that she feels like she is living in a permanent fog that is so dense that she feels lost in space. Jill got teary when she shared that she used to be a funny, engaging person, and now she doesn't even recognize herself. She feels like her true self has been replaced by a stranger who is too tired to engage, too overwhelmed to be present,...

Letters for resilience and courage

Greetings, Reader! Way back when I was in PT school, I was stopped at a red light on the way to teach a yoga class when I was rear-ended by someone who somehow didn't notice the line of cars stopped at the light. Fortunately, she was only going about 25 mph, but my neck absorbed the impact, and I knew right away that I had whiplash. I have a sensitive system, and it took some time and tender care to unwind the guarding and tension in my neck that developed when I braced for the impact. If...
